Brother Denis Condado of the Institute of the Marist Brothers of the Schools (FMS) passed away on 4 April 2007 at the age of 95.

Brother Condado was born in Spain on 22 November 1911. He entered the minor seminary when he was 11 and was sent to Italy for further studies in 1928 where he was professed a year later.

He travelled by ship from Marseilles, France to Tianjin, China, in November 1929, where he taught at a school. He was finally professed in 1934. In 1952, he was sent to Kobe, Japan. Seven years later he was transferred to Hong Kong where he worked at St. Francis Xavier’s College.

In 1963 he was sent to Rome for further training in theology and in 1968, he returned to his teaching job at St. Francis Xavier’s College, working there until his retirement. He spent 63 years educating young people.

After his retirement, he continued to teach English to young children. In addition, he had served as the organist at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Shamshuipo, every weekend since 1961. For over 40 years, as regular as clockwork, he walked all the way to the church to rehearse with the choir. He only stopped in 2004 when he began suffering from ill health.

The Marist Brothers said that Brother Condado was keen and took his teaching and other duties seriously, but he was an affable and kind person who wore a gentle smile.

His funeral was held at the Kowloon Funeral Home on 13 April. A Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church and he was buried at St. Raphael’s Catholic Cemetery, Cheung Sha Wan. 6 May 2007

聖 母 昆 仲 會 龔 達 德 修 士 ， 於 二 ０ ０ 七 年 四 月 四 日 安 息 主 懷 ， 享 年 九 十 五 歲 ， 龔 修 士 生 前 長 年 服 務 九 龍 聖 芳 濟 書 院 。

龔 達 德 修 士 一 九 一 一 年 十 一 月 廿 二 日 生 於 西 班 牙 的 布 高 斯 ， 年 僅 十 一 歲 進 入 聖 母 昆 仲 會 小 修 院 ， 二 八 年 獲 送 到 意 大 利 的 聖 茂 里 求 作 初 學 ， 一 年 後 發 初 願 。

龔 修 士 一 九 二 九 年 於 法 國 馬 賽 乘 船 起 程 來 遠 東 傳 教 ， 並 於 同 年 十 一 月 廿 二 日 抵 達 中 國 。 他 旋 不 久 即 獲 派 往 天 津 聖 魯 易 學 校 執 教 ， 三 四 年 誓 發 終 身 願 ， 五 二 年 轉 赴 日 本 神 戶 聖 母 會 中 學 服 務 ， 七 年 後 返 香 港 任 職 於 九 龍 聖 芳 濟 書 院 。

一 九 六 三 年 龔 修 士 前 往 羅 馬 總 部 參 加 神 修 課 程 一 年 ， 之 後 被 派 往 新 加 坡 作 初 學 導 師 培 訓 望 會 生 ， 六 八 年 他 再 度 返 港 執 教 於 聖 芳 濟 書 院 直 至 退 休 。

龔 修 士 一 生 獻 身 事 主 ， 為 教 育 青 年 而 服 務 達 六 十 三 年 ， 榮 休 後 繼 續 服 務 修 會 ， 並 教 導 兒 童 英 語 。 此 外 ， 龔 修 士 自 一 九 六 一 年 起 ， 任 職 聖 方 濟 各 堂 歌 詠 團 司 琴 ， 每 逢 週 末 徒 步 赴 聖 堂 ， 協 助 歌 詠 團 練 習 ， 四 十 餘 年 ， 風 雨 無 阻 ， 直 至 二 ０ ０ 四 年 病 弱 退 休 。

聖 母 昆 仲 會 稱 ， 龔 修 士 是 一 位 熱 心 修 士 ， 及 負 責 的 老 師 ， 凡 事 認 真 ， 絕 不 苟 且 。 他 為 人 和 藹 可 親 ， 時 時 笑 容 可 掬 。

聖 母 昆 仲 會 已 於 四 月 十 三 日 假 九 龍 殯 儀 館 設 奠 ， 翌 日 於 聖 方 濟 各 堂 為 龔 修 士 舉 行 安 息 彌 撒 ， 彌 撒 後 即 移 柩 長 沙 灣 天 主 教 墳 場 安 葬 ， 該 會 願 各 界 友 好 為 修 士 之 安 息 主 懷 而 祈 禱 。
